Privacy Policy

Your privacy is our top priority.

Uaki is designed from the ground up to protect your privacy. We believe you should be able to make your presence count without sacrificing your personal information.

What We Collect

When you use Uaki to check into an event, here’s what happens:

  • Anonymous ID: We use Firebase Anonymous Authentication to create a temporary, random user ID for your device. This ID is not linked to your name, email, or any personal account.
  • Location Pings: To verify your presence, your device sends its geographical coordinates (latitude and longitude) periodically. These coordinates are used in real-time to calculate your time spent in an area or distance traveled.

What We DO NOT Collect

  • We do not collect any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) like your name, email address, or phone number.
  • We do not store the raw path of your movements. Only aggregated metrics (total time, total distance) are saved.
  • We do not track you outside of an active check-in session for a specific event.

How We Use Your Data

The anonymous data we collect is used exclusively to:

  • Determine if you meet the criteria for "valid presence" at an event.
  • Increment a public, anonymous counter of total participants for that event.

Data Retention

Session data, which includes aggregated metrics like time and distance, is kept for analytical purposes but is not tied to any individual. We are committed to minimizing data storage and will periodically purge old, un-finalized session data.

Your Control

You are in full control. You start the location sharing when you press "I'm Here" and stop it when you press "Finish" or close the app. Since your account is anonymous, clearing your browser data or reinstalling the app effectively deletes your anonymous ID.
